  • 2024 Revised Free and Reduced-Price Meal Policy

    PUBLIC RELEASE August 1, 2024 Seneca R-7 School District announced its revised free and reduced-price policy for school children unable to pay the full price of meals served in schools under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. Local education officials have adopted the following family size income criteria for determining eligibility: Children from families whose current income is at or below those shown are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Applications are available at the school office. To apply, fill out a Free and Reduced Price School Meals Family Application and return it to the school. The information provided on the application is confidential and will be used only for the purpose of determining eligibility. Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year. A complete application is required as a condition of eligibility. A complete application includes: (1) household income from all sources or Food Stamp/TANF case number, (2) names of all household members, and (3) the signature and last four digits of social security number or indication of no social security number of adult household member signing the application. School officials may verify current income or other information provided on the application at any time during the school year. Foster children may be eligible regardless of the income of the household with whom they reside. Households with children who are eligible under the foster, Head Start, homeless, migrant, or runaway programs should contact the school for assistance in receiving meal benefits. Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) participants may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Children who are members of households currently certified as receiving Food Stamps, TANF or FDPIR are eligible for free meals. To complete an application, the household must provide the names of the children, a statement that the household receives the qualifying benefits, the Food Stamps/TANF/FDPIR case number, and the signature of the adult household member making application. When known by the school that members of a household are receiving assistance from Food Stamps, TANF or FDPIR, households will be notified of their children’s eligibility for free school meals. If any children in the household were not listed on the eligibility notice or not listed on the application, the household should contact the school to have benefits extended to all children in the household. If a family member becomes unemployed or if family size changes, the family should contact the school to file a new application. Such changes may make the children of the family eligible for these benefits. Under the provisions of the policy, building secretary will review the applications and determine eligibility. If a parent is dissatisfied with the ruling of the determining official, they may wish to discuss the decision with the hearing official on an informal basis or he/she may make a request either orally or in writing to Dr. Brandon Eggleston, Superintendent. Hearing procedures are outlined in the policy. A complete copy of the policy is on file in each school and in the central office where any interested party may review it. To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ad-3027.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.   • New High School Device Policy

    FROM THE DESK OF DAN HUELLER, PRINCIPAL Attention Parents, Guardians, and Students: Please take a moment to read over the following change to our device policy: Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) WILL NOT be allowed during class, in the restrooms, or the locker rooms for any reason. Students will only be allowed to use PEDs during passing time and lunch. PEDs shall be defined as cell phones, smart watches, AirPods/earbuds, tablets, etc. First Offense: PED confiscated. The incident will be documented with a discipline referral. Students may pick it up from the office at the end of the day. Second and Subsequent Offenses: PED confiscated, detention/ISS assigned. PED returned at the end of the day. Students may not be allowed to have PEDs on campus if violations persist. Students will be required to place all PEDs in the provided caddy during each class period.

The following athletes are competing in the listed events Shot Put- Isabella Renfro (1:00 on Friday) Triple Jump- Grant Landers (4:00 on Friday) 4x200- Ethan Altic, Blake Hurn, Morgan Vaughn, and Brodie Probert (Prelims 12:30 on Friday; Finals 12:05 on Saturday) 4x400- Anna Adkins, Addy Jones, Savannah Johnson, and Cambry Long (Prelims 6:15 on Friday; Finals 4:40 on Saturday) This is the most athletes we've had compete at state in track for many years, and we are very proud of their hard work! Baseball District Semifinals On May 13th, Seneca High School’s baseball team faced off against Mt. Vernon in the district semifinals. The intense matchup showcased the team’s skills and determination. Although the outcome was not in our favor, our players gave their all and represented Seneca with pride. Track and Field Success Isabella : Isabella’s victory in the shot put event has secured her a spot in the state competition. Her consistent performance is commendable. Grant : Grant’s impressive triple jump abilities have earned him a ticket to the state championships. We look forward to seeing him excel on the big stage. Relay Teams Our relay teams have also made their mark: Boys 4x2 Relay (Ethan, Morgan, Brody, and Blake) : These talented athletes will be competing at the state level. Their teamwork and speed have been exceptional. Girls 4x4 Relay (Savannah, Anna, Addy, and Cambry) : The girls’ relay team has shown incredible determination, earning them a spot in the state championships.     Regular School Year: Last Day of School : The regular school year concludes on May 23rd . Students, parents, and educators can look forward to a well-deserved break after a year of hard work and learning. Summer School: Dates : Summer School will be in session from May 28th to June 21st . TPC After School: Last Day of After School : The regular school year concludes on May 17th for the After School Programs at the Elementary and Intermediate. Please make alternate plans for your students for the week of May 21st to May 23rd. TPC Summer After School: Dates : The Summer After School program will also be in session from May 28th to June 21st .

  • Important Update: Snow Day Makeup Dates Announced

    Hello, Seneca R-7 School District families and staff! We hope you are staying warm and safe during this winter season. As you know, we had to cancel school on three days so far in January, due to inclement weather conditions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we made these decisions to ensure the safety of our students and staff. However, we also value the quality of education and instruction that we provide to our students. That is why we have scheduled makeup dates for the missed school days, as required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Here are the makeup dates for the snow days: Monday, February 5th for the snow day on Tuesday, January 9th Monday, February 19th for the snow day on Tuesday, January 16th Monday, April 8th for the snow day on Wednesday, January 17th Please mark these dates on your calendars and plan accordingly. These dates will apply to all schools in the district. We thank you for your support and flexibility as we adjust to the weather challenges. We look forward to seeing our students back in the classrooms and continuing their learning journey.   • Cheerleading Makes Seneca History: 4Peat State Champions

    The Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association (MCCA) State Championship took place over the weekend at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The Seneca Cheerleading Squad made Seneca History with a 4Peat as State Champions. This makes the 10th State Title for Cheerleading in Seneca History.

    Hello, students and parents of the Seneca R-7 School District! We hope you are having a cozy and festive winter season and enjoying the snow and lights. We have some important announcements to make regarding the school schedule for the month of December 2023. School on Monday, December 18, 2023 First of all, we would like to remind you that there will be school on Monday, December 18, 2023. This is a regular school day and attendance is required for all students. Please make sure to arrive on time and bring all the necessary materials for your classes. We understand that some of you may have made plans for the Christmas week, but we ask for your cooperation and understanding as we follow the district’s calendar. We appreciate your flexibility and commitment to education. No School from December 21, 2023 to January 3, 2024 Secondly, we are thrilled to announce that there will not be school from Wednesday, December 21, 2023 to Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
