Students all across the Seneca district went outside to witness the first total solar eclipse in the area since 1979.  The district purchased solar glasses for students in Jr. High and High school.  Those in the Elementary and Intermediate were able to be checked out for an hour during the eclipse.

Students who weren't checked out at the Elementary and Intermediate buildings were still able to enjoy the phenomenon via NASAs live streaming.

Even district staff took time to enjoy the event.  Many had never seen a total solar eclipse, and those who had, were students themselves at the time.  "It was such an amazing experience to share with my students.  It's something I don't think any of us will forget," said Holli Sears, a teacher at the Intermediate School.  The next total eclipse to cross the continental United States is supposed to occur in 2024.
